Joint Support-Center for Data Science Research (abbreviated as "DS" hereafter) was established in 2016 in ROIS, Research Organization of Information and Systems, Japan.
The major aim of "DS" is to conduct collaboration-based research projects on the subjects of data-driven/oriented sciences (data science) with the variety of university researchers. Currently, "DS" consists of six centers, and we are pleased very much to announce that applications for Joint Research Program, ROIS-DS-JOINT 2022 for the F.Y. 2022, is open to the wide range of researchers including ones from foreign universities/non-profit institutes. (1)The Joint Research Program(RP) It is expected that each project will be carried out utilizing the facilities and resources available at the ROIS-DS, and that the research plan has to be agreed upon with the host scientist(s) prior to the submission. ROIS-DS will provide up to 1,000,000 JPY to each approved project as research expense, which is limited to the direct cost necessary to conduct the project such as consumables and cost of labors used at the host centers, for example. Salary and the purchase of standard equipment are not allowed.
(2)The Joint Research Meeting Program(RM) In this category, small and independent meetings on the study of future collaboration plans, lectures or seminars on data science, for example, will be supported. ROIS-DS will provide up to 500,000 JPY in total to each approved plan as expenses for travel and rental/room fees, for example. Salary and the purchase of standard equipment are not allowed.
Each proposal has to be discussed and agreed upon with the host scientist(s) prior to the submission. At least one of the ROIS-DS members has to be included in your proposal as the host scientist(s).
The application method has been changed with the introduction of the new application system "Joint-Research On-line Integrated System (JROIS)". If you are applying for the first time, you will need a researcher ID for the JROIS system, so please register in advance.
