ROIS-DS-JOINT 2024-1: Call for the Collaboration Program at ROIS Joint Support-Center for Data Science Research

The Joint Support-Center for Data Science Research ("DS" hereafter) was established in 2016 at ROIS, Research Organization of Information and Systems, Japan.
The major aim of DS is to conduct collaboration-based research projects on the subjects of data-driven/oriented sciences (data science) with the variety of university researchers.
DS consists of seven centers, and each center has researchers and data resources in various areas of data science.

Now, we are pleased to announce that applications for Joint Research Program, ROIS-DS-JOINT for the FY 2024-1st. The program is open to the wide range of researchers including those from foreign universities/non-profit institutes.

[Type of the Programs]

(1) The Joint Research Program (RP)

The Joint Research Program(RP) is intended for data science research projects conducted by a small number of researchers. Each project will be expected to be conducted with the facilities and resources available at the ROIS-DS.
ROIS-DS will provide up to 1,000,000 yen for the expenses necessary to conduct the research. The use of expenses is limited to the direct cost (e.g., consumables or cost of labors used at the host centers). It does not cover the salary of the PI or Co-I or the purchase of standard equipment are not allowed.

(2) The Joint Research Meeting Program(RM)

The Joint Research Meeting Program (RM) will support small and independent meetings to discuss joint research, exchange research, and hold workshops on data science. Depending on the purpose of the meeting, it can be held closed to the public.
ROIS-DS will provide up to 500,000 yen to each plan as expenses for travel and rental/room fees, for example. Salary of the PI or Co-I or the purchase of standard equipment are not allowed.

  • Each proposal must be discussed and approved with the host scientist(s) before submission.
  • At least one of the ROIS-DS members must be included in your proposal as the host scientist(s).
